As the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia is home to more species of coffee plants than any place on earth. All Ethiopian coffee is Arabica, and more than 150 varieties are commercially cultivated.  This coffee is from the highlands of southern Ethiopia, the coffee region famously known as Yirgacheffe. The farmers from this washing station are smallholders coffee growers harvesting coffee at an altitude of 1800 – 2200 meters. Coffee is sent through the washed process and dried on raised beds prior to quality control and shipment.
